The Diplomacy Competition is an online Model United Nations event, run by UN Youth New Zealand. Open to teams of up to four from secondary schools across the country, the competition runs in four distinct month-long rounds over the course of the year.
In each round teams are assigned a country to represent and placed in a committee of other teams. They are given a topic with a briefing paper and a draft resolution to discuss and amend. After a period of discussion, the amendments are voted on and a final resolution is released. Teams must then submit a final vote on the resolution, and a position paper explaining why they voted as they did.
The Diplomacy Competition features five distinct phases, each one requiring a distinct combination of skills. We want to expand the educational horizons of Model UN while engaging more students with the world's most pressing issues.
With free registration, any secondary student with an internet connection can compete. We want to break down geographical barriers and bring together more students from more places - all in real time!
See how you stack up against some of the best students from around the country, and be in to win some great prizes. We believe that well-run, interesting competitions inspire a passion in people that can be hard to match through other initiatives.
